National Eat Outside Day. That’s my plan for lunch. if it doesn’t rain (no rain in the forecast). I eat outside every day I can until it starts getting too chilly to be out.

There was a big house fire a few blocks from here on Sunday morning. The good news is the people and cats are all okay. Two of the cats were missing until sometime after the fire was put out. The entire upstairs of the house is pretty much gone. The cats must have been hiding downstairs or maybe they got out to the attached garage. I don’t know the people who lived there and I don’t know what caused the fire, but it was so sad, just seeing one house burning. I can’t begin to imagine how awful al those big wildfires are where many square miles and many houses burn.

Dexter has been acting funny lately – super affectionate. He’s always been a sweet cat, but now it’s as if he just can’t get enough loving. He’s on my lap right now. He wants to be close to me a lot more lately. At night, when I’m in bed trying to get to sleep, he’s always climbing all over me and then laying real close to my face. If I roll over and turn my back to him so I can breathe, he moves and lays in front of my face again. After a while, he leaves and sleeps someplace else, but he makes me crazy when he keeps getting in my face. And when I get home from work at night, he meows at me nonstop for a full minute or so. I don’t understand what’s going on with him. He doesn’t seem to be sick – he’s just being a little odd. He turns 15 on September 9th.

If living like this stands out like a sore thumb you can – by rules of thumb – keep cool and twirl your thumbs, thumb your nose at Annie, thumb a lift to Abu Dhabi for her (Ooops, wrong comic!) or just give it a thumbs up, like I always do when I read “Ten Cats” Whatever you consider to do: just don’t “thumb” the table – the “b” is too soft for that!

I had an incredible walk in the park and zoo today. I was taking a picture of some beautiful flowers, and a hummingbird flew into my picture! I got it on video, too. I couldn’t believe it. Then a goldfinch landed on a bush near me and chowed down for about a minute on a seed pod.

I don’t think it’s Annie being bossy so much as it is Jack and Chesney being ungrateful jerks. On another note, saw three chickadees, two rabbits, and two juncos while out walking today.
