Go Caroling Day. People don’t seem to do that anymore. At least, not around here they don’t.

Mudd Day. Mudd Day on December 20th annually recognizes the birthday of Dr. Samuel Mudd, a man whose name was mud after his dealings with one man. After assassinating Lincoln on April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth rode with co-conspirator David Herold to Dr. Samuel Mudd’s home in the early hours of the 15th before crossing into Virginia. Mudd performed surgery on Booth’s fractured leg and allowed both men to stay the night. At some point, Mudd must have learned of the assassination. However, he did not report Booth’s visit to the authorities for another 24 hours. This delay appeared to link him to the crime, as did his various changes of the story under interrogation. On April 26th, authorities arrested Mudd. A military commission found him guilty of aiding and conspiring in a murder and sentenced Mudd to life imprisonment. He escaped the death penalty by a single vote.President Andrew Johnson pardoned Mudd, and he was released from prison in 1869. Despite repeated attempts by family members and others, Mudd’s conviction has never been overturned, nor has his record been expunged.
So, on Saturday, I had that customer who complained that we didn’t have enough Christmas lights. She wanted clear ones and all we got on that day’s truck was colored lights. A LOT of colored lights. Well, on Sunday’s truck, we got the clear lights that she wanted. A LOT of them -even more than the colored lights. They were selling fast, but I have so many left, it’s barely possible there will still be some left after Christmas (after all, it’s only a few more days until Christmas). Too bad for her she shopped on Saturday instead of Sunday.
Saturday was Bake Cookies Day. I didn’t have time to do that on Saturday, but I’m going to bake sugar cookies today. I have already mixed the cookie dough and it is chilling overnight in the fridge. My plan for the day also includes making my chocolate cream pie for Christmas dinner.
Come on GH, stop beating ’round the bush and bring our LILY back to Annie, the 9 cats, and ALL her adoring fans. Besides, Chesney is due for another good old whacking, drubbing, licking, thrashing, trouncing and/or lacing (and so are you, GH, for putting us through this horrible pre-Christmas arc).
Come on, Chesney, get with it! The Other kitties are depending on you! on another note, saw two wrens, a chickadee, and four varied thrushes while out walking today.
