Actually, a new couch is in my future! If we can fit it through my back door!
The Catholic church had one of their estate sales last weekend. On Saturday, the third day of the sale, they left some things for free outside. One thing I found out there for free was a couch. My living room couch is very old and very tattered, so I thought I’d pick up this one. I called my brother, Mark, to see if he could help me pick it up. But we couldn’t fit it in his jeep. But there happened to be a guy there with a pickup truck who was looking over some of the other free stuff. A total stranger (I still don’t know his name) and he and Mark loaded the couch on his truck and then he followed me to my place to deliver it. Because of a back injury, he couldn’t help get the couch into my house. My back door is very narrow. Mark and I could not get the couch in the house. But Mark was having trouble with his vertigo, which makes it hard for him to function well. Anyway, another brother (Daniel) is coming this afternoon and he’ll try to help get the couch in the house. He is also bringing me a new (used) stove. He had a chance to buy a couple stoves from the hotel where he works and he asked if I needed one. It so happens that one of my big burners shorted out last year and and the other one shorted out just a couple weeks ago. Since one small burner quit a few years ago, I was down to one small burner. So, yes, I needed a new stove. I haven’t seen it yet, but Daniel is bringing it to me this afternoon. He’ll even haul away my old one to sell at a scrap yard. This new one is a glass top stove. I’ve never had a glass top, so any advice about care and cleaning is appreciated (like what happens if something boils over?)
