A famous electrical engineer, Bob Pease, had stacks and stacks of papers, books, etc. in his office. When asked about some article or design, he could locate the pertinent article in a few seconds. An amazing memory.
Young people tend to like knowing where everything is, which often means in sight and most wanted/needed first spotted and quickest to hand. Maybe Mom and Dad can help him to do both, but telling him he is organizing possibly wouldn’t be a good idea for a while.
My desk looks like his room and I know where everything is. Keeping it clean though is something that he MUST learn and do. Ironically, it is easier to clean when everything has a place….
