“Are you thinking what I’m thinking Pinky?” (Narf said.) Sorry, it just reminded me of that old cartoon about the two mice, where one is a genius and the other’s insane.
You opened yourself for that one again, Brutus! Admit it. You’re NEVER going to be in Veeblefester’s good graces so you may as well quit while you five miles behind!
Brutus is likely thinking of either celebrating at the nearby diner on Veeblefester’s dime, or pondering the chances of getting off work early, neither of which the boss would go for…
Brutus is the Boss’s left had man that’s for sure. How about lunch my friend. Just like Brutus, a meal sounds good after a hard morning of inventorying of tea cozies and whatever else the company produces…..
“I think so, Thornapple, but where are we gonna get a three-legged billy-goat and set of off-key bagpipes at this hour?” (What I want to know is, how can you tell if bagpipes are off-key? ☺)
I think Brutus is less of a “Born Loser” and more of a "Born Naïveté”! His childlike character traits make him believe he can always be cordial and friendly with selfish idiots who have no regard for his loving and accepting nature! No, not a “Loser” but fodder for predators!
On further consideration, perhaps that is the definition of “Loser”. Sad.

No, Brutus. It’s a safe bet bossy is not thinking about letting you go home early, today. Just put that out of your mind. You’ll just be disappointed.

Veebs actually eased up on him, he could’ve said something more like “you’ll never be accused of thinking”.

RV is not a nice person. He certainly doesn’t deserve to have a nice guy like Brutus working for him!
