Hey Brutus P….. Saw a 55 chevy today, immaculate. A dark gray color that wouldn’t work if it wasn’t straight. We chatted at a stop light because of his brakes. No power, almost had to stick his foot out the door to stop! Remember those days?
So good on so many levels! Brutus fishing for a compliment, trying to impress his wife and falling on his face, the expressions throughout, the coffee chilling to reflect Brutus’s mood. Great one Chip! Gladys probably regrets buying Brutus the word of the day calendar.
Brutus ole boy, you need a life preserver around Gladys’. Don’t confuse her or MIL Gargle. I think you are sagacious in a Country Boy ole way. Brutus surely is a College Grad and that earns him a little respect. Little is what he gets. Glad Uncle Ted’s around to perk him up. Sagacious Uncle Ted.
He did ask for it, and he should have expected nothing less in her response. That being said, I am impressed with his use of that word. He must have found it in the word of the day section in his news source. However, one shouldn’t use a word in a speech/conversation that the average person in that group would not use, as its use would be pretentious at best and would probably be demeaning/insulting to that group at the worst. Also, why did Brutus’s coffee suddenly appear to change its temperature? Did it all of a sudden get cold from Gladys’s retort?…….

Gladys’ answer froze the cup of Brutus (as from the cloud on it)

Wow!! I’ve been sagacious all these years and I didn’t even know it. Or to quote Homer…, D’oh!

I’m told that I am more perspicacious leaning than sagacious. Mainly because I am sagacious and perspire a lot!

Brutus, true sagacity would have prevented you from asking the question to begin with.

Shrewd come back, Gladys.

Well, considering some of the judgement calls I’ve made in the past, I will not claim to be sagacious

Sometimes ignorance (in others) is bliss (for ourselves).

ya know words hurt Glady’s… but to be fair, he did ask for her opinion. :J

I always thought sagacious was a type of cactus.
Brutus is often prickly.

Remember, Gladys, one of the earliest decisions that Brutus made, and therefore an example of his perception and judgement, was to marry you…

Brutus, Brutus, Brutus . . . haven’t you lived long enough to know better than to set yourself up for failure this way?

He may not be sagacious, but you certainly can’t deny that he is grandiloquent. And about that, he can be sanguine.

If Brutus wasn’t prepared for a putdown from Gladys, maybe he shouldn’t have asked the question.
