I know the feeling. When I have trouble sleeping, I just talk to myself and it’s good night.

maybe try being someone else… while pretend to hold on to a hammer. :D

Even Brutus Shadow left him for Mother Gargle. Un Huh.

Even if you brought up something exciting? Like the weather getting less hot?

Poor Brutus. At least if you talk to yourself, nobody is arguing with you.

When I talk to myself I don’t understand what I’m saying.

I wouldn’t know his problem myself but his low self-esteem could be a contributing factor to it. However, keep on talking my friend to whomever you can anytime you can. You might just surprise yourself as to how interesting you truly are……

Yes but given the people in Brutus’s life he’s probably the only one who’ll lend him a sympathetic ear. Gladys? Rarely. Veebs? Yeah right. Ramona? Not in a million years. Hurricane Hattie. Ha ha ha. Maybe Wilberforce. Maybe Kewpie. If he’s enticed with treats.

Btw I love the starkness of today’s strip. It accents Brutus’s sense of ennui. If only you could add some music by Edith Piaf.

If it makes you feel any better you do serve a purpose, by comparison you make others feel better about themselves.

Better boring than negative.

They say the secret to being a good conversationalist is to get others to talk about themselves. Ask yourself questions Brutus; questions such as, “Why again did I think this would be a good idea?”, or, “Am I really so boring that even my buttons left my shirt?”.

I talk to myself because I am the only one who listens to me.

Well, at least he was on the same intellectual level as his conversational partner. I suspect that they had much in common.

he’s not much for chit-chat…

The advantage of being your own conversationalist is you can get right to the point and not have to listen to and pretend to be interested in 99-percent’s-worth of tangental digressive nonsequitors.

Obviously, his boredom is less boring than most boredom. At least to him. More important. Don’t overwhelm others with it too often.

I talk to myself all the time. Given the nature of some of the people I work with, it’s the most entertaining conversation I might have all day.

I talk to myself. I’ve found it’s the best way to get good advice.

You need to have a more positive attitude, Brutus. I talk to myself because it’s the best way to be guaranteed intelligent conversation.
