The absolute horror of the fashion faux-pas!!!

Has it occurred to anyone that old dudes wearing black socks with sandals are doing the whole world a favor by keeping their gnarly yellow toenails covered and out of view?

Is it even possible to buy sandals in the US?

The comic is funny, cos I know most of the country gets the vapors at the thought…but up here in the counter-cultural haven of N. Calif, where there’s no predicting the weather, which drops from the 90’s to the 50’s in a couple of hours on a summer night anyway…

I know I’ll get slammed, but I have to say…almost everybody I know, from little kids to geezers, sometimes wears socks with sandals, even me!

I’ll grant you, usually not in the office or working at the bank….and a guy in thin nylon dress socks and old fashioned men’s “dress sandals” looks funny anyplace, as do knee high yellow golf socks and plastic sandals, and I’m not crazy about white socks on men anyway… but brown wooly socks, heavy hand knit striped socks, or black crew socks with Tevas or Birkenstocks, or heavy leather sandals….around here they wouldn’t even draw a sidelong glance.

People who declare this or that to be a fashion faux pas are just knit pickers.

And in some cases, “hosey whales”.

Often wonder, with those who omit the socks yet wear slip-ons or other enclosing shoes: How much foot poison must accumulate before the shoes must be discarded for failing the sniff test, For moi, style can’t trump hygiene.

This morning I read that white socks with sandals were a faux pas. Does this mean that sandals and socks just don’t go together?

- Wearing socks with sandals is a fashion faux paus. I got it- Socks are terrified of sandals? I don’t get it.I sort of get the notion that socks “wouldn’t like it” (maybe), but these socks seem horrified, as if they are going to die. Assuming socks are sentient, wouldn’t sandals be “more desirable” then regular shoes, since they can still see what is going on.
