The first time I saw an egg explode in a microwave was a sci-fi horror movie where an oil platform drilled up some eggs, put them in incubators(disguised microwaves) and one exploded. Made for a good special effect. Couldn’t tell you the movies name.
I put a pork pie in a 7-11 microwave years ago and doubled the cooking time by mistake. Not only did it explode, it smoked so much I now wonder why a smoke alarm didn’t go off.
You can either crack the egg into a form and sprinkle some water on it, or if you want hard boiled in the shell you get a special cooker ( egg shaped in my case ) that shields the eggs and allows only the water in the bottom to heat up and cook them. Works pretty well.
Back in the late 70s when microwaves were first becoming popular, a guy at work wanted to heat up some hard boiled eggs (the shells were already removed). When he bit into the first one it exploded in his face and there was egg everywhere. We all laughed until we realized he burnt his mouth pretty bad.

Running from the scene of the crime. Veterinarian will know who did it and where to find him.

Get an orange circus peanut (may be hard to find). It’s fun to watch it expand in a microwave but stop it before it explodes!

Apparently, if you scramble them first they turn out great. Wife does it all the time.
