The Buckets by Greg Cravens for February 05, 2013
Transcript:
Class, another misconception you all seem to have is that you come into this class with A's and I'm taking off points for misconduct. In fact, you're all coming here with clean slates. The work you do builds the grades you receive. Question? That's not what Ms. Larnheimer said! Who is she? My preschool teacher.

Two things. First- a university professor neighbor of mine really liked the concept for this comic. He couldn’t understand where his most entitlement-minded students were getting the idea that they came into his class on the first day owed an ‘A’ and that his job was somehow to whittle it down.
Second- Has everyone ordered their Buckets Book? The link is right there at the top and on the right of this page. It’s funny. I promise.

It was a very funny book. And incredibly useful! It’s both good reading material AND handy if you’re reading it and need to squish a bug.

just a fyi. I responded with my teaching method at the end of yesterday’s comments. I didnt’ realize you’d all be that interested. Thanks! Oh, I agree with Mr. Cravens above and his neighbor, but it’s the younger ones more so than the older ones. Most adult returners to college understand that you have to do the work to get the grade. Experience – a better teacher than me.

Greg, I have a feeling this entire week’s worth of comics is going to end up on many teachers’ walls. I’ll be sharing with my teacher friends!

Did Toby said that?

I’m sorry to say that I can’t help you. I don’t have any wobbly tables. But I can say that it’s good as a coaster (as long as you only use non-sweating styrofoam cups.)
