The crucial difference is that the other media — TV, radio, newspapers — didn’t allow instant and equal access to any dope who wanted to spread any lie he wanted to about anything or anyone.
Cave paintings did, yes, but their sphere of influence was very limited.
It’s a matter of perspective — I’m almost 50 and am definitely floored when I think about how much things have changed in my lifetime, but I think it’s incredibly exciting!
Just had my 30th high school reunion, and I marvel at how great we all look — wow! I feel so fortunate for the longer, healthier life I still have ahead of me, compared to generations past.
Yesterday I had a real-time face-to-face talk with a friend in Australia (I’m in the U.S.) There wasn’t even a time delay like there is in those interviews-by-satellite on TV. And it was basically FREE (since Skype doesn’t add any cost to the internet I already pay for) — So amazing!
Had car trouble a couple weeks ago, just pulled out my phone and had help there in minutes. In those few moments I waited, I recalled the time in high school I blew out a tire, and had to walk along the interstate late at night by myself in the cold of winter, to get to a pay phone. And I thought about how GLAD I am, in such a situation, that it is modern-day now!
There is always change, and it is always a mixture of good and bad, but it’’s your choice which to dwell upon. There are wonders all around you, should you choose to notice them.

The ridiculous twaddle on Facebook is kind of an after effect of governments cutting education budgets.
