I was at a dinner with editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez when we drew on butcher paper tablecloths once. The waitstaff was arguing over the paper as we were all leaving. Another time, in Myrtle Beach for an NCS Southeast Chapter meeting Don Orahek and many others doodled all over our butcher paper table covers. That time, we had the good sense to take them with us and put them in the Silent Auction for charity that weekend. I think I still have a Don Orahek scrap around here somewheres.

I remember a restaurant in Michigan where the table cloths were just a big white sheet of paper and we were given crayons. It was fun!

yes, he finds conversing with his family so tedious and boring that he’d rather color with crayons.

Is that the norm in most restaurants in the US?
If so, I like it!
