(Being pedantic – “loch” isn’t a quaint local spelling of “lake”. All of Scotland’s lakes are lochs*, but not all of Scotland’s lochs are lakes. Quite a few of them are tidal inlets. Loch Lomond, for example, is one of those. Although, as it happens, Loch Ness isn’t.))
