My father stands with the fridge door open. Sometimes he walks away from it and leaves it open. It has a sensor that starts to ping when the temperature goes up. He can’t hear it because of his tinnitus.

I was pretty good at guessing where technology would lead us, but here are four words I never would have predicted I’d say: “Furniture needs louder beepers.”
