Don and his current secretary are getting married, much to the consternation of the lovely Ph.D. psychologist who’s in love with him but who is not nearly as good with Don’s children by his failed marriage.
Don’s previous secretary was a septuagenarian who croaked at her desk. She had been hired to keep Don in check, though in her younger days she had been the lover of one of the firm’s founders and had been known as “the queen of all perversions”.
The sec’y before that made the mistake of thinking Don was in love with her just because he bonked her, so when she realized the truth, she ran from the office in tears, calling Don a terrible person. (The question of whether he is or not is one of the fascinating themes of the show.)
Great writing, great acting, great re-creation of the era (early 60’s), all good reasons “Mad Men” won the best drama series Emmy three years running. (M.M. will never jump the shark. The shark fears Don Draper.)
