The Professor: Ladies and gentlemen!!! Fresh from their tricounty RV promotional tour for their new CD entitled "Cranky 'bout my Bennies"...It's the Elderrappers!! People: Yeah!! All right! Woman: Yo! Yo! Three outta four retirees vote!! Man: So DC folks, don't rock the boat!! Woman 2: There's 35 million past 65, and social security keeps most alive! Man: No, sir! No, sir! Don't pri-va-tize or we're gonna cut you down to size! Woman: Everyone!! Everyone: Don't you...don't you...pri-va-tize!! Woman: Now some folks say SS is broke. Come on now, man - is that a joke? Woman 2: It may need a fix...but let's have no tricks!! Woman: Don't you dare to pri-va-tize. Doin' that just isn't wise!!
It’s very easy to make Social Security work. At the present time, Social Security taxes are only deducted on the first $118,500 of income. If people making more than that paid the same percentage as those below it, it would save the program for eternity. At the time SS began, the income inequality gap wasn’t such an issue. Now, with 1% of the people having as much wealth as the bottom 90%, all that would be necessary for the entire country to work for everyone is to have that 1% pay their fair share.
