Except a lot of people celebrate shopping. I heard Christmas is a great holiday in Japan, where everyone loves to go out & shop for family & friends.Who’d a thought?

@Nighthawke: Do you pronounce each of those words differently, or are they all the same? Where I grew up, in New York, they’re all different. Here in Utah, they’ve pretty much levelled out to /mɛri/…

Merry Christmas to everyone, no exceptions!

Happy Solstice to All! And I forget: is the cat’s name pronounced “BARF-lee”? Or is he a Bar-Fly (like a drunk?)

    Oh, now I remember – it’s BOTH!

I prefer the admittedly less authentic, “Have a sybaritic Saturnalia!”

it was always about the return of the undefeated sun. The feasting is a pledge against hunger, the Yule Log against cold, candles against winter darkness. For the historical genesis of this event, which as many folks noted above, is tied to the winter solstice rather than the belated assignment of the date to Christ, consider why Santa’s clothing is red and white.

I think I need to redraw Barfly. He was originally drawn and scanned to be reproduced at 72 dpi. If I’m going to do “Barfly and Schrodinger” again, I need a better character object.

Pab, remember that the higher the resolution, the less certain you are of the location of Schrodinger’s cat.

Bill: No, that’s Heisenberg’s Cat, not Schrodinger’s. Schrodinger’s you always know where it is, but never its quantum state.

Something I saw somewhere on the net:

The only legitimate use of the BLINK tag: Schrödinger’s cat is [BLINK] not [/BLINK] dead.

@ spyderred - indeed. And for further information on the genesis of the red and white, consult Terry Pratchett’s “Hogfather,” one of my favorite holiday reads.

Whatever you call it, have a merry one!

A great strip- and Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate! I had a great community party with archery friends today- tradition of potluck and blind gift exchange as well. Happy that my pumpkin gingerbread cookies were a hit and the book I gave was well received by the final recipient and I can use the gift I recieved as well. I was a really fun gathering and I dressed warm enough even tho’ it started 9AM at under 60F.
