The recent Guard Dog run on Mutts took far too long to be resolved for this old lady who cries at anything remotely sad OR remotely nostalgic, but it was worth it, in the end.
I often worry in horrible weather about those poor souls, human and animal, who may be out there trying to find shelter. I know we can’t save them all, but we can keep trying.
I put out food for birds and animals and have heated birdbath and water bowl too. They can use my gazebo for shelter if they want, I have a pet bed and cushions there. It’s not fancy and I don’t mind.
I had a German Shepherd and he slept in a small laundry room with a doggie door. I worried when the forecast was below zero that he would be too cold, so I drove on icy roads to town to buy a space heater and hooked it up, relieved that he would be OK. When I woke up the next morning, Duke was happily curled up sleeping— on the back deck.
My golden rescue gets in the pool every morning even when it is cold. Water temp is in the low 40s today but she loved it! Then comes into the house happily wet! Meanwhile my cat is safely warm inside and busy watching through the window at the birds eating the seed I put out each morning.
yet people spend thousands to a breeder for dogs, and many dogs are awaiting rescue before they are killed. My three dogs were rescued and they love my family and my family loves them.

LOL, our first husky, Jack, would be out there and would refuse to come in.

It’s coming. Down to -16c tonight. Chipmunks have dug tunnels by the apple trees and should be good until Spring. Crows must be hiding somewhere.
