I’m not sure I get the joke for this one. I’m guessing that “Lucky Ducky” to Hollingsworth Hound is just any poor person with an advantage (that isn’t really an advantage, but rich people are ghouls who despise the idea of poor people not suffering horribly every second). Well, even if I’m wrong about the joke, the main message remains as clear as ever: Capitalism Sucks.
The truth is, we vastly outnumber them, despite their best efforts to kill us. “Rich people are ghouls who despise the idea of poor people not suffering horribly every second” this is mostly true esp. amongst so-called “conservatives” = Nazis, Reagan robots, orange loser mega donors etc. The joke is mostly on us until we realize we can just wipe them from the face of the earth with a large angry mob and redistribute their ill-gotten gains amongst the needy. Instead, we let them divide us into rabid factions, effectively distracted from the real villains, the billionaires who have been systematically robbing and looting the people since 1979 or so. Enabled by the politicians they’ve bribed to advance their agendas of greed and cruelty. Has any of the many very generous tax breaks they’ve received from GOP controlled legislatures ever truly benefitted anyone but themselves and their ill-bred progeny? Have ANY of their tired old lies they keep telling to get re-elected have come true? No, but the if we ever wake up, the joke WILL be on THEM!
It’s the present cutthroat, take-no-prisoners version which sucks. As there are only two sources of political power — organized money or organized people — this version COULD be made to change if people organize vote and make their collective thoughts known to their reps. Otherwise, organized money will keep fracturing the organization of people into a political force and help keep people at one another’s throats — exactly what organized money wants.
We MIGHT try a social democracy, with PEOPLE first… not capital. Germany and others make it work for them, and work well, for ALL parties and players Even corporations. (I suspect we here will never do so as there is a knee-jerk reflex against any version of the word “social,” especially the one ending with -ism.)
Still, as has always been said and is still true: Capitalism is the worst form of government… except for all the rest.
Still: Any attempts at building-in a degree of fairness in the current system are alway appreciated, however. Not everyone is born on third base under a top hat.
(Those who are usually get a nice monetary inheritance to help sustain the mythos of having pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps. But, then — wherever there are great fortunes, there are great crimes… a theme for another day.)
