Young Frankenstein is my favorite. The strange part is when I went to see it, it made no sense at first. The projectionist had put the SECOND reel in first by accident, LOL! He saw his mistake about 5 minutes in.
Thank you JDAve48. The best description of GOP & their candidate I’ve ever read. I believe it’s more than just Trump. As Ken Burns points out so well, it is a situation of history repeating itself.
’ It is only a spoiled, misbehaving child hoping somehow to still have dessert.’This child is no piker; he wants everybody’s dessert..And to say “both candidates” is another false equivalency. One candidate, whether you ‘trust’ her or not, has the temperment, intelligence and skill to at least do the job. The other, none of that.
Dr. Seuss, who hated fascists with a passion and would no doubt hate the neo-fascist Trump, once wrote a story about a Ruckus Bird. A quick excerpt:“On the top of a hill on the island of ZortLived a bird called the Ruckus, whose favorite sportWas making loud noises. It gave him a thrillTo be known as the loudest-mouthed bird on the hill. Then one day he thought, ‘I can be louder still!’-—————He works a year to make the loudest noise ever, and succeeds. Then a worm asks: “But I have a question to ask if I mayYou made yourself heard, but what did you say?” Any other very loud very pointless people spring to mind? (This and other much lesser known Dr. Seuss works are written about with many illustrations in the excellent book, “The Seuss, the Whole Seuss, and nothing but the Seuss.”)
I’ve been a fan of Seuss’s 1942-3 political cartoons ever since I happened upon them while looking through a bound set of PMs at a college library. I went back later and photocopied all the ones I could find, over the course of a number of evenings and weekend afternoons. Then a year later, someone published a book of them.
The cartoon is making a reference to Young Frankenstein, but billsarar’s comment “You’ve got to remember these are simple farmers, the common clay of the new West. You know…morons” is a quote from Blazing Saddles, spoken by Gene Wilder’s character Jim “the Waco Kid” to Bart the sheriff, consoling him for their racist attitude towards him.

Would that it were only one. Both major party candidates suffer from the error.
