I do hope his mitt is lined with fire retardant … meteors come in pretty darn HOT!

Yeah, we all know who the meteor is going to aim at.

There is a massive extra-solar object moving toward the inner solar system right now.

I don’t know how these things are calculated, but observers are saying it seems to be somewhere between 60 and 240 miles across. The thing’s orbit suggests it makes this pass around the sun every three million years or so. It may be just a big rock or possibly a comet.

No danger to us. The enormity of its orbit means it will pass many millions of miles from Earth.

If it were headed Snugharborward, Wallace would need a bigger glove.

    Love Spud’s protective gear.

Theoretically, this actually could be done, as I’ve heard plenty of stories of baseball-sized meteors (which are statistically more common anyway) reaching the earth’s surface already cool enough to handle, especially with the added protection of a baseball glove would end up providing regardless.

The two catches are obviously the odds, as Wallace says, are extremely slim, and even if you are miraculously lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to do it, you’d probably have little to no forewarning. And, of course, the meteor would still be traveling at terminal velocity at least, slow enough you could still possibly catch it, but you’d be risking injury to yourself trying.

So I personally wouldn’t recommend trying to do it…but theoretically speaking, I think it could be done in just the right circumstances.

Next, Amelia comes along with a baseball painted to look like a meteor and throws it at spud.

When I was about 10 I found the strangest piece of melted glass. It was after a thunderstorm at a lake we were vacationing by. Almost burried in the sandy dirt next to a metal bench. It’s clear expect for the molten folds on top which are a white/gray scum, the size of a quarter and tall as a penny I don’t know what it is. Too clean for fulgarite, too clear for meteorite. It is glass my geology professor confirmed that. One theory is a piece of bottle from a campfire, but can those get hot enough to disfigure glass? I’ll probably never know for sure.

It would be coming down so fast it would smash and burn through his glove and his hand.
