“The sea is a harsh mistress” works in more than one way, as the last panel shows it: she tries to separate Dad from the family, and it’s the sea, as you can see, that gets the central stage in the last drawing.

Just noticed they are upwind..

Once again, nice water. Looks like chop after a storm — kind of green-blue from the sand and such being stirred up and not yet settled.

also excellent gulls. I notice they are calling out for fish, not just thinking about it.

At least he has lots of friends.

For those unfamiliar with lobster (or crab) fishing, the bait is more than just “fishy”, it is left in the bait barrel to ripen for a few days before it is ready to use.

And yet Sterling sleeps through the whole thing.

I remember doing the yard work for my first GF that had a yard. She ran from my smelly self as well. Years alter when I was married, my wife (a different woman) came over to me after I finished the yard and hugged me and kissed my smelly self for taking care of OUR yard. I said “but I smell”. She said she still loved me and was grateful for me. I felt so blessed.

Seagulls smell fish.

I don’t work on a lobstah boat, but we do have chooks and a horse and a barn and a coop. And I have an old barn coat that hangs on a hook just outside the mudroom door with a pair of work gloves and wellies that get washed off and sometimes removed before I go in.

Seagull is in for the hug…

Well some don’t mind the smell, love it actually.
