It looks as though it was his resistance that broke it, as opposed to outside assistance.
If this was a movie, I would be on the edge of my seat and holding my breath.
Oh no, the weekend is soon upon us and I will have Widdershins withdrawals! This particular story line is edge-of-your seat!
Combine this with Verity’s efforts to make a new coat and pair of gloves for herself and I’m guessing Mal will be able to do his part with ease. ;^)

At last! Voss is overcoming his inner jealousy of Wolfe, and with each broken string, he’s becoming less of a puppet, and even lesser of a good-for-nothing.
