Another memory, the year it was announced on telly that the dog licence for dogs with more than 2 colours was to go up. My sister was out with my then wife and were enraged as Sis had tri coloured dogs. “Why does I have to pay more for my dogs”? I gently pointed out the date as April the first. Better yet, they had even approached a policeman with their grievances. Must have made his day…..
