Considering Rodney’s lifelong reluctance to engage the enemy, the phase from him “I have not yet begun to fight” is literally true. He’s definitely no John Paul Jones or Robert Plant or Jimmy Page either.
It wasn’t clear to me whose ship that was out in the distance. Since Rod’s not on it, I figured it was the enemy’s. But who sunk it? And if it’s Rod’s, why are he and the other guy on it?

It means to get started or to get working on something, in this case to begin to fight although it’s a bit late as his ship is sinking.

Oh wait, I get it. Although it doesn’t look like it, he is on a ship in the first panel. I thought it was an island.

I never realized ID had a coast. Good thing Sir Rodney’s there to protect it.

“A ship can be either a ship or catastrophy. That depends, if you’re aboard or under”.
