One trial I was selected for was a Dr. being charged with malpractice. I thought juries were selected to be “peers” of the accused. So why was a nurse excused?

I’ve always wondered about that.

What a great idea. If you happened to be accused of say bank robber, then you would want 12 ex bank robbers on the jury. I would think they’d be more sympathetic towards you than a bunch of prim and proper Karens.

I would think that for “a jury of your peers” in criminal trials, the jury should be composed mostly of lawyers, with the occasional politician and judge.
