Only Americans call them shooting stars. In the rest of the world they are called meteors. Go figure.

Isn’t this how “War of the Worlds” started? The original and book, not the movie where they were all buried and popped out and yelled “surprise!”

Actually, they have three different names. when they are flying through space, they are meteoroids. When they enter an atmosphere and start burning (become visible), they are meteors. when they hit the earth and stop moving, they are meteorites.

Was that Asteroid 2021 UA1 or The asteroid, called 4660 Nereus, the one shaped like an egg, maybe 99942 Apophis, or something they missed or did not see coming?

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day.
