Sadly she sounds like my wife when I try to explain why PC programming works the way it does.

Am I the only one on this website who recognises the Sheldon Cooper reference?

Excel doesn’t have problems adding up, it is when it starts and the top and adds down that it runs into problems.

I read years ago that the windows system was geared toward men, who (on average) found DOS obscure and difficult, while women (also on average) were comfortable with it. Women were said to take more naturally to keyboard commands, while men preferred to see pictures they could click on.

Easy explanation: “The printer is a device, and the screen is a device. The printer came first, so we use ‘print’ to send text to a device.” Logical enough?

from my uneducated point of view, you are all speaking greek. the only computereze that i know is the old rule of thumb about " garbage in garbage out". that and computers are stupid. fast but stupid. you must know precisely what to say to get it to do what you want it to do.so…Rita is doomed to fail becouse it takes years to get up to speed on what ti do and what not to do.am i close to the target on my observation?

What do you mean?! It sounds like everyones wife when explaining anything!

No… working in an IT dept, it sounds like ALL calls to helpdesk from both men and women. Usually the men are a bit worse, because they are absolutely sure they know what they are doing.

There is still a bias that men are naturally more adept a machines and electronics, and that women will become flustered and confused. Probably started by some men who were not too bright, but wanted to feel better about themselves. I’ve known some men who could barely work a flashlight. Remember back when cell-phones actually spelled out BATT LOW when they needed charging? I knew a guy who really thought he’d received a message from a Mr. Battlow, and wondered how he could call him back without his number.
