My wife did drafting. Upper management chose a CAD system that was much more expensive, required much more powerful hardware, and had a deeper feature set than the software they had been using. The only problem was that it was a very poor choice for the kind of work they were doing. It reduced productivity dramatically. The execs could brag about their state of the art CAD system and cool hardware.
