More than 38,000 people die every year in crashes on U.S. roadways. As of this morning, in the last 3 months 85,000 people have died of the virus, the forecast is now that by August 4th 147,000 will have died and the graph is continuing up after that date. Your perspective is badly skewed and going to cause damage.
Eager to get America’s businesses up and running again, presumably including his own, President Trump on Monday evening suggested that the country managed to maintain economic activity despite tens of thousands of deaths in car accidents each year. Why shut down over the coronavirus pandemic when we stay open despite car crashes?
Fearless leader:“The people of our country are warriors. I’m not saying anything is perfect. Yes, will some people be affected? Yes. Will some people be affected badly? Yes. But we have to get our country opened and we have to get it open soon.”
“There’ll be more death.”
Also fearless leader: Orders everyone around him to wear masks, be tested, and says he’s tested every day.
What I hear:“Some of you may die, but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make” (delivered in the voice of that little dictator from Shrek)

60000 flu death is over a full year. 1.25 million victim of auto accidents is for the whole planet.Putting things in the RIGHT perspective.

How many of those 1.25 million are caused by someone driving drunk or distracted?

The perspective changes when you’re part of it.

All death is forever. Perspective, Zack.

You don’t see the dead stacked like cord-wood from the flu. Nor dumped in mass graves.

Thank you Deering & Newcombe. I’m happy to see somebody, in “print”, saying this. The pandemic is real, but people need to gain some perspective.
