Ziggy: Since the election... both sides are telling us to boycott different products! Now I really need to go to the grocery store... but I'm afraid of offending everyone.
One of the things that makes this country great is that we are allowed to grouse. But enough is enough. Don’t just complain, be active in a positive way.
Before the election, people on both sides insisted they would leave & not just celebrities. I was so looking forward to a much less populated country. BUT NOBODY HAS GONE!!!
Boycotting things is so pointless. Unless you could get thousands of people to participate, enough so it affected their bottom line no one will care. Meanwhile you may be doing without something you really enjoy. And how do you know the position of the company who’s product you’ll switch to because the other company offended you?
If you’re going to restrict your life based on what others take offense at, you need to move to a country where only one set of opinions is allowed. In a country which allows freedom of opinion (speech, press, religion, political party, etc.), there will always be someone who is offended and you will soon die of trying to please them all.
Fear of giving offense is crippling our country. I’ve read the Constitution. It never mentions a “Freedom From Being Offended”.We have allowed an environment where we can be extorted with just the Threat of having given offense. We are so screwed.
