I used to get those things all the time with my old dial-up ISP. But since switching to a cable ISP, I get at most one a year. But truth be told (as if truth has anything to do with these scams), I miss them for their entertainment value. Some could be quite imaginative.
The last time John from “Windows Technical Support” called, with his thick Indian/Pakistani accent, I told him I didn’t want any new windows. Then I asked if they could replace the caulking and repaint my windows a different color. Silence… CLICK.
That.. and many more. One would think that after being hung up on a dozen times they are not likely to succeed on the thirteenth time. I know its a machine that mindlessly dials but still the spammers are ruining their own reputation.
The ones I like are the ones that start in the middle of the spiel & tell you of the dire consequences if you don’t call the number they leave with the “case” number. The worst were after my husband passed away the calls looking for the party who was handling the estate. When I did the search on who was calling, from the comments, they were claiming to be from collection agencies about unpaid debts. I never called, but I was the one who handled the finances & knew there were no debts- paid or unpaid.
