A famous astronomer said when he was a little he’d to out, look up and recite “Twinkle Twinkle little star how I wonder who you are” and now in his old age he still does the same thing.
Doesnt it have to be a shooting star to wish on it? If you go by the first star I see tonight, sorry that is NOT a star the odds have it that is the planet Venus! You actually see this at dusk before the black sky hits.
Star light, star brightFirst star I see tonightI wish I mayI wish I might Have the wish I wish tonightWe usually followed it with a prayer for blessings for loved ones
Sirius (the Dog Star) is one of the easiest stars to find when it’s visible in the sky. It’s about the first to be visible as the sun sets (Some planets like Venus are brighter – sooner and more easily seen.)
If you can find Orion (one of the larger most identifiable constellations) in the southern (southeast to southwest depending on the time of year and the time at night) part of the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. Sirius is the bright star below and to the left of it. Orion’s Belt nearly points to it.

Yeh, you can wish on any of them. It’s just an old wives tale anyway.

Since the stars are all yellow, it looks like dogs from everywhere have been “wishing” on them.
