“The Call of the Wild.” Great book. Haven’t watched any film versions.

Old Yeller’s too sad. Even for a dog.

As long as my grandkids can’t read, I just make up stories to go with the pictures.

Old Yeller has brought a tear to my eye, there’s also a song that does it today.

Ol Yeller is a good, tough life story for rural kids dealing with life-and-death of livestock but pretty darn hard on an urban child raised on cartoons.

I could watch every film by Quentin Tarantino and any other film where people die in the most horrible ways no problem, but I CANNOT watch a film where a dog dies or is injured in any way.

Yes, a better choice, Mr. Ziggy. Your pup will enjoy it. Do you have any Rin Tin Tin books??

Wait until “Old Yeller” becomes public domain! He’ll win in that one.

And you wanna know what’s worse? “The Yearling” (yes, even more so than “Bambi”) and “Where the Red Fern Grows”.
