Champagne should not be confused with vintage wine. Aging doesn’t help. The people who ferment grapes say five years, tops, for a bottle of unopened champagne (and expect it to have darkened and lost its fizz)… I guess the question is why do they still have the bottle around?
Actually, I have a bottle of burbon I got on my first enlistment in the Corps. It’s about 40 years old now. I wonder if it is still good? …one of these days I’ll try it.
Champagne is a lovely way to celebrate something like a novel being published, but first either throw out that old bottle or place it on a shelf never to be opened just for the memories. Next, don’t actually toast with the new champagne until you receive your first check. That way if it all falls through you might be able to return the champagne to the store.
The captain of the ship that married us gave us a bottle of champagne to have on our first anniversary and we waited until our tenth and it did turn bad we had one sip and ordered a new bottle to drink.
We have an old garage fridge that is rusty, dented from a car hitting the door and has been working perfectly for decades. Our newer house refrigerators have been replaced over and over again. Planned obsolescence. I love that old beer and wine stocked garage fridge.

Power company will buy those old less efficient refrigerators to get them out of the system. (Have to be in working order)

He did say they were saving it for a special occasion. So what if it’s not his novel being published.

Oh no! Is the the story arc where the parents die from drinking bad champagne and the strip name changes again, this time to ClaytonAndKaty@Home?

Oh, yeah. You can trust everything you find on Google. That champagne is probably vinegar now. You can make salad dressing out of it!
