    Panel 2 is outstanding.

Even though you’ve had four years to deal with the loss, I’m sure writing and drawing events brings all the feels/losses back up.

My nearly 102-year-old deaf FIL is currently in the hospital with pneumonia and is confused and tearing the tubes out. But is it worth the two-day drive in winter to get there and write notes he won’t read saying hold on it’s not bad just breathe the O2 and take the antibiotics? Sigh.

Even though you know the end is coming, it still doesn’t help when it finally happens.

    Best wishes to your family.

Even if you know it is coming, it is still very hard when it does. Hugs help.

For me, it’s panels 3 & 4. My father had dementia, so I said my good-byes to him every time I left after doing respite care or visiting. It was one long good-bye. When I last saw him in Nov. 2020, he was so frail that I knew the end was near and was just waiting every day for The Call for weeks. So, I get the “make peace” with it. And then panel 4 is just LOL. :-) )

Sorry for your loss. As others have said, even though it’s been 4 years, I’m sure you both still miss him. HUGGZ

It is never easy. Guilt, for whatever reason, makes it even worse.

Awwww! Some can’t contain their emotions…best to let go if needed. But everyone greaves in their own way.

    ☹️☹️☹️

Making peace with no regrets is a profound feeling. ❤️

I lost my husband to Alzheimer’s last week. But I was losing him bit by bit for years before. He’s at peace now.

My aunt passed away on exactly that same day… on her birthday (born 1923).

In hindsight it’s a blessing that she went before the curfews.

Her funeral was huge – she was the loved pillar of several communities.

My Mom died in my arms. She was lucid as we said our goodbyes. I was 3,000 miles away when my Dad passed. I swear I felt something just around that time. Knowbody can convince me that their isn’t more to life after we leave our corporeal bodies. Sorry for your loss Dan and Amanda..

My dad was a good provider and a smart guy. He was also judgemental and had a horrible temper. He tried to pit his kids against each other. My sister, brother, and I were relieved when he died.

Grief. Families. Amanda, you have again touched the topic of my week via your 4 year time portal. Someone told my husband to reframe guilt as regret. Maybe we could have done more for our loved one, but we didn’t do wrong if we were not there in that final moment. In any case hug the ones that are good to you just as written in the last panel… life is short. We are dust.
