Are the English canals really that open and easy to fall into? If it’s dark out and you’re not familiar with the area, I can see a lot of people falling into them, drunk or sober. Not to mention driving into them.

You can’t win, Andy.

The perfect job for Andy would be working as a dowser. The old souse finds bodies of water wherever he goes.

Waters cleaner along Marine Drive.. good choice Andy.

Just as well, if Andy didn’t come home all wet, Flo would think he was spending more time messing with other women instead of drinking.

In the Andy Capp TV series when the police officer brought Andy home after he fell in the canal, Flo said “At least it’s bath night. It’ll save on hot water”

It’s criminal there were only 6 episodes of the series. The guy who played Andy (James Bolam) is still alive but the woman who played Flo (Paula Tilbrook) died a few years ago.
