They should go apply for state Unemployment Compensation. They could probably draw like $250 a week, each. Maybe that would keep Janis from stroking out over them being suddenly “penniless and destitute”.

It isn’t the money. One of her girl friends might ask: What does your boy do?

It’s my husband who’s the worrier in the family. He does enough for all of us. He’s gotten better since he started on his meds.

HA!!! I’ve always called my husband “my Arlo”, and he calls Arlo “my boy”. And I’ve also always complained my DH is the Alfred E. Newman of husbands – just ask any of our relatives, they’ll tell you it’s true. So now, IT’S OFFICIAL!!!. -Going out to buy this paper! We still get home delivery on Thu., Fri. and Sun., but not today. Oh! How I wish this was in Sunday’s!!! It’s going on the fridge, for sure! Might even get framed! -Once again, as many of us always say, Jimmy seems to have been spying in on our lives! Well done, Mr. Johnson!!!

There is still the farm … risky as that is. Most of the harvest should be in and marketed; this is traditionally the time to relax (before winter planting).

How much money is enough for them all to retire on? How much did Gus get for a thriving business with location, location, location?

All will be revealed in time. Gus is a saavy man who thinks long-term. I think he will surprise his daughter and son-in-law.

Depends whether or not they qualify for UI. If either of them owned a piece of the place they might not qualify as owners are not entitled to UI, even though they have to pay it on themselves, if the business closure was done voluntarily. For example – Gus owns a corporation. He has been drawing salary, he shuts it down. He cannot collect UI even though he has paid in. Gus owns a business, a hurricane hits and puts him out of business, he may be entitled to business. Gus and his daughter are partners in a business. They are not employees. If it is closed down for any reason, no UI as they are not employees.
