Gene: You mean that about going to Paris? Mary Lou: If we can swing it, sure! Gene: Maybe we can find a name for the joint! Mary Lou: It should be French but not too French! Mary Lou: "We don't want it to sound snooty! We want something the locals can relate to!" Gene: The Rendezvous! Mary Lou: Frencher than that.

ominous portent…

I can’t tell if that’s a heron or an egret, if either. Some silly names:No Egrets Heron Inn Vin Aigrette (Aigrette = French for egret)I still like Chez Day, Chez la Vie, or Day’s Inn – but that’s taken. Chez Nous… or Chez New

ominous portent indeed… maybe panel three is symbolic stork implying the picnic events may have popped a bun in the oven?
Observer fo Irony about 10 years ago
How about a bad omen since it could be an albatross.

Le Cigogne = The Stork
jimguess about 10 years ago
Not an Albatross. The Albatross has short legs and their beaks aren’t that long. Not a Great Blue Heron. Wrong color. Not an Egret. Egrets don’t have black on their head and their beaks are longer.I am going with Army_Nurse and Bob. It is closer to a stork, but the beak is not quite long enough or thick enough. Still, it is quite good and very close to a stork.

what did i tell you. Mary Lou makes all the decisions in the family and Gene just follows in her wake. wonder if he will ever tire of playing second fiddle

And how can a name get frencher than a french word? She wants a french word that is not too familiar?
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member about 10 years ago
I was thinking panel 3 was representing a stork, and was designed to signify that all this France talk and bistro talk was going to go out the window, because the two of them are pregnant, but do not yet know it.

is there any end to this arc in sight???

Great Herons have two phases, white and blue. This a a white phase. If they are going to have wine and spirits, I like Le Manchot Gris – The Tipsy Penguin. Gris is slang for drunk and not just the word for ‘gray’.

I don’t even want to think of how much a round trip flight to Paris plus hotel would cost.

How about Fat & Lazy Americans? Eh?….Eh?

They should either call it Fai Do Do (if they’re into Cajan) or if they’re into Cajun-soul fusion, the name would be “Chez WHAT?”
StoicLion1973 about 10 years ago
How about “Le Petomane’s”? It will appeal to 19th century stage act enthusiasts and Mel Brooks fans alike.

!. If they need to borrow any more from ANYONE, they’re going to want to see your "business planney If you don’t know what that is, you have to go back to school — going to Paris to see what color of curtains they have in a restaurant should be secondary…
Observer fo Irony about 10 years ago
How about Les Miserables because somebody is going to be feeling depressed after the Paris trip.

Atmosphere. It’s French, means the same thing, and is a famous quote from an oldies Hotel du Nord. (Atmosphere, atmosphere, do I look like an atmosphere?)

If I were to suggest a name for the restaurant…. specifically THE bistro in the country by the farm, I think the name:++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++“Vouée à l’échec”
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Would be perfect. It means “Doomed to Fail” in French. I still think if they have to take a stab at this, using Gus’s restaurant would be the better bet.

If that bird is a stork it could be an omen/

Skip the “French!” Not everyone cares to see French.
