Sully, that’s what I do, but you have to get it fairly early, and it can depend on how many trees you have.

A leaf blower is a complicated piece of machinery much like a woman. Sometimes you have to play with them a bit to get them to turn over. ;-)

Millions of people using these hellish devices = noise pollution and unnecessary fossil fuel consumption. Get out there with your rake and get some exercise! Same thing goes for brooms. Do you really need to crank up a machine to sweep off your driveway or sidewalk? We are a lazy species.

ALL muscles need exercise, Arlo, even the involuntary ones. You need yours to crank, too.

He just learned what happened to all small engines when you put that crap called gasohol in them and don’t drain what’s left of it completely out after using the engine. That stuff eats the rubber gaskets and seals.

Raking is faster than blowing if you don’t mind a little work. I have a neighbor who blows the leaves in his yard four hours at a time and he still doesn’t get all of them.

Lawnmower them into a corner, make a screened area (compost) and use the rake to put them in there. Leave them alone, next year you’ll have dirt.

Just give it a shot of starting fluid Arlo. Or buy another cheap piece of crap at Wally World like everyone else does, and use your old one as landfill.

I too, mow my leaves into smithereens rather than rake or blow. But I don’t get why a powered blower is more objectionable than a power lawn mower. They’re both noisy.

When human civilization collapses, it will be largely attributable to the introduction of the leaf blower.

My neighbor blows all his yard debris into the street for cars to run over. As long as it is off his property he is happy. Completely self-centered.

We blow the leaves off the sidewalks, drive and patio, and then Hubby uses the snow blade on the tractor to push them into, onto, and over the compost heap. Two acres is a LOT of raking!

    Cranked…? You mean STARTED?

Please get your semantics right: You crank an engine to start it.

I don’t know why I still read this strip. I only understand the jokes in about 1/3 of them.
