I had a dog who hated rain. He would ask to be let out the back door, but if it was raining, he refused to go out. Instead, he would run to the front door. He thought the rain would not on both sides of the house! Never worked though…
Sometimes you open the door and it’s raining and sometimes a minute later, the sun’s out. I’m pretty sure our cats have always thought rain was only the result of us forgetting to turn off the sprinkler. Do it one time….
I had a cat that would refuse to go out the front door when it was raining, then would go to the back door, then would hiss at me because it was raining there too.
Reminds me opening sentences of Robert A Heinlein’s book “Door Into Summer”. He mentions living in a house with too many exterior doors, a cat, and deep snow.
We live in the metro NYC area. We like to go to the Pennsylvania Dutch country. We usually go for 2-3 days midweek. Sometimes we go for an afternoon – we go on Friday there is a farmer’s market we like. Husband doesn’t like to drive in the rain and if one goes to the market in the rain it is a mess and many of the drive in for the day vendors are not there, so he does not like to go if it is raining.
It rained here or there or both every Friday since January 1. Makes no sense – but it did.

Our cat thinks we should change the weather just for her.

See T.S. Elliot’s book of Practical Cats. In particular the Rum Tum Tugger cat.

In northern California, it rains on one side of the house and not the other fairly often during rainy season.
