That’s the old saw cliche, normally a lightening rod. What about a ‘corporations of the world unite’ slogan? Won’t fly I guess, because sotto voce, the reply would be “Shhh…it’s been done”
Some say this is from some sort of Communist Manifesto, “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
ameriKan fake Labor Day. United Statesians founded May Day (the real labor day) and the Kapitalists could not stand it. Direct Action gets Satifaction. IWW
There is some squabble among the commenters here about the origin of Labor Day. By far, most historians credit the establishment of Labor day as a reaction to unrest (read riots) within the Labor Union movements. Which itself arose from the movement of the United States toward an industrial nation and away from an agricultural nation in the late 1800.
Since a “National” holiday must be enacted by Congress, we can be assured that pandering to one group or another was involved. “The Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1968 changed several holidays to ensure they would always be observed on Mondays so that federal employees could have more three-day weekends.” (https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/labor-day-1)
From Wikipedia: "The political slogan “Workers of the world, unite!” is one of the rallying cries from The Communist Manifesto (1848)1234 by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels (German: Proletarier aller Länder vereinigt Euch!, literally “Proletarians of all countries, unite!”,5 but soon popularised in English as “Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!”).5[note 1] A variation of this phrase (“Workers of all lands, unite”) is also inscribed on Marx’s tombstone.7"So Arlo is either ignorant or is being deceptive, or- one more – Given the support he and Janis gave to their kids business, I doubt he’s really Communist, but rather just trying to be provocative. At least I hope so.
Henry Ford Sr. understood that workers and owners need each other. He paid the workers who made his first cars enough that they would be able to buy them. That’s something that today’s Billionaires should learn from. Open up your tight money grubbing fists and let go.
i worked on Labor Day. i was a telephone operator and we were open 24/7. we worked every holiday until you got enough seniority to choose if you wanted to or not.

That’s a May Day slogan, not Labor Day.

It started with unions wanting workers appreciated. ( or in maternity wards in certain cases.)

When I’m afraid, I find that I sense the demons retreating if I use words that end in “-ism”. Antidisestablishmentarianism. There. I feel better now.

Yes, it has! He is right, if we do not unite, we will all be victims of big business. Oh wait, we are already heading that way unfortunately.
