My two window a/c’s are replaced, and I owe it all to the hard (and HOT) work of my sweet niece & nephews! So when THEY visit, I’ll be all "What can I bring you, Sweeties? ❤❤❤
My function in landscaping is pretty much like Arlo’s. Only with my tomatoes, peppers and little fig trees, I do the watering. My wife takes care of everything else.
When she asks him if he needs his drink freshened, I thought for a moment she was going to squirt him with the hose…
When my wife started to get sick, she and our friends who own a commercial greenhouse chose plants for our front garden. All the potted stuff was done at the workshop and the rest went in the back of my van and I stuck it in the garden where instructed. Then she bragged about the garden I put in.
I explained it was just a big paint by dirt job, but it made her happy for what time she had left
I wish I could sit outside and look at my flowers. It was 76 degrees and 70% humidity this morning with no wind. Maybe Gods telling me to get my but to church and pray for rain.
While, like Arlo, I do the spring time prep and/or garden expansion, beyond some minor dalliances with the zucchini flowers with my Q-tip, I am pretty much done. And we took the first zucchini off one of the plants this am. Let the chocolate zucchini loaf preparation begin!
It’s amazing that JJ knows how marital relationships work. That is exactly how we gardened. At the garden’s peak colors she would take me on a tour of the yard in those warm summer evenings. Cancer took her in 2019 but the “garden tours” memory’s remain.
I especially enjoyed the sequence where Janis finally came to understand that while she didn’t paint with canvas and paints, she was still quite an artist. She just used living things in a garden.

Yep, it’s all the the Pre-Nup agreement: “Janis does all the mental work and Arlo does all the grunt work”!

My front is flowering nicely, but it is a slope and too hard to weed in my elder years. I will keep planting taller flowering plants.

That’s the thing about comics…. rarely based in reality…
