Good point Arlo. Of course it’s all just too silly for some people to believe but sadly, not most. A hundred years ago H. L. Mencken, “The Sage of Baltimore,” was credited with exposing this soft underbelly of American culture. Mencken titled that entry in his column “Notes on Journalism.”The long, wordy quote became shortened to “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”
I remember seeing a couple of those ads. I don’t remember where (I haven’t had paid TV service in over 10 years), but I do remember my main reaction was how stupid the ads were. I know the point of such ads is to be memorable, but ads are useless if it doesn’t increase sales. I can’t remember the last time I bought a Dr Pepper.

In your region, what do you call beverages like Dr. Pepper? Soda, pop, cola, etc?

My favorite commercials on TV are Fansville, followed by the Progressive life coach helping people to avoid turning into their parents.

I sorta like those Fansville commercials. They’re only parodies. Gotta admit, they make folks aware that Dr. Pepper is still around.

As a former teacher of composition, I am glad to see that JJ knows where to place the adverb “only.” He’s one of the few.

It’s not a “football beverage” if the Clydesdales don’t deliver it.

Well, I drink Dr. Pepper and I’m proud to be a part of an original crowd. I have one at 10 and 2 and 4 then at night I have one more.

That’s some effective advertising they’re talking about.
