We have 2 wood stoves. One in the basement and one in living area. Also a wood cookstove in kitchen. I rarely have all 3 going, except when the power’s out.
She should have done a sensible compromise and have kept the blanket on so the heat would only need to be turned up a little bit. Not that sensible actions have any place in the comics.
Poor Arlo…he tried to make Janis more comfortable and what does he get for his efforts? I’m surprised he does pull a muscle in his eyes from spontaneously rolling them at Janis so frequently.
H. Sapiens can survive in just a very thin sliver of the range of temperatures available in the universe. The peak comfortable temperature for the average resting naked H. Sapiens is 80 deg F (~ 27 deg C). BTW, the word for which H. stands is banned on this site.
We have natural gas heating, stove, and water heater and it tain’t bad. Summer is what I dread for the A/C here in Louisiana. We also have a yearly average payment for the gas.
This is why Hubby and I keep some long-sleeved tee shirts and flannel shirts handy. The tee with a flannel shirt over it isn’t too heavy and keeps us comfortable in the morning around 65 degrees. When it gets warmer in the house, the flannel shirts come off.

I just turned the heat on – in FL. It was 64 degrees in the house. It is supposed to get up to 73 today, but it is very cold now.

In winter we keep the house at 68. If we’re cold sit under blankets! Overnight the temperature is set at 60!
