I do that. It’s especially true when I’m trying to breathe harder through my nose, like when I overdo it walking or when I’m losing my lunch vociferously.
I don’t usually have this problem. I walk briskly every morning and in cold weather the cold air coming in meets the warm, moist air going out around the vicinity of the sinuses. This causes post nasal drip and for about a mile, I am frequently coughing. However, it does drain the sinuses and everything is replaced with fresh mucus. If there were any germs lurking there they were probably purged too. I get a cold about once every 5 years for a couple of days.

A PA told me about the following trick: it is very messy and I advise doing it in the shower. If you have an upper respiratory infection and need to clear it out, get a bulb syringe and mix up 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. Tilt your head back and squirt some of the concoction in. Let it penetrate the sinuses. Then tilt your head forward and blow it out. Repeat as needed.
It is very yucky, but it works. If some of the liquid goes down the back of the throat and gets swallowed, it will not harm you. In fact, if you have acid reflux, the baking soda will help with that. Best of all, it does not involve using drugs of any kind, costs almost nothing and it won’t make you drowsy or have other side effects.
As I am reading this I am currently having a coughing fit from post nasal drip down my throat, I rather have a blocked nose than a runny nose like I do, I blow my nose over 50 times a day trying to get it cleared out and it never works, I have gone to an ENT doctor about this and he says I have small nasal passages and that is why this happens to me,

When I get punched in the nose I sit and think about the times when my nose wasn’t punched.

And while you are there, you can take a shower.

I get a blocked nose too. My doctor prescribed Flonase spray. It’s not much good when I can’t breath through my nose.

Now that’s something to reflect on.

It could be worse.
Instead of being “Blocked”, all that goop could be running out of your Nose and dribbling off your chin.
