My wife and I just went through this at the supermarket. You won’t believe how much sugar is in most cereals, especially the so called “healthy” ones.

My Mom always checked the expiration date before putting food in the basket. I do this now too

After checking for prizes, check the ingredient label. Never did much until we discovered our oldest daughter was allergic to a whole host of things. Twenty -eight years later, we still do for any food item we plan to give to or share with her.

I agree watching ingredients on label especially when one cannot have as I, not my husband. The following somewhat related to the strip on food. For my husband, he went to cardiologist Tuesday, even he commented his weight was too low, so he has to skip the calorie count and snack, also hubby’s medical visit was a stress test, this he failed, he does have one stent back in 2010, seems that area of concern may have grown and heart unstable. heart cath coming 24th, mean time he can have ice cream and junk food, darn, has to be ice cream I cannot have as he likes rocky road plus eat more. husband without trying lost 30 pounds and he is 6’4". For me I am careful on my diet.

I think they stopped putting prizes in cereal boxes in the 1960’s. I remember when Post Cereals put baseball cards on the back of the boxes in 1960’s.

Women learn to shop with coupons.

Men learn not to buy so much they throw their backs out loading it into the car.

Another Dad tip: Ignore the “Best By…” date. Eat it anyway. It’ll be fine.

Nutrition labels what are those? I’m I’m kidding. It’s just that I don’t care. As far as expiration dates they make them so small you need a magnifying glass to read them.

I remember buying Red Rose tea, which included a cute ceramic figurine in each box. I still have a few of them in my tchotchkes collection!

If it’s not “chocolate-frosted sugar bombs”, I’m not interested!

When we went to the grocery store, my mother would let each kid pick a box of cereal. She admonished us not to pick just based on the prize, but I don’t know why. It’s not like there was any prize-bearing cereal we wouldn’t eat, and they’re all pretty much identical nutritionally.

I pretty much always chose based on the prize.

I always checked for Sugar amount. The higher the Sugar amount, the better chance I have to throw it in the cart =D
