Early 60s hit by Sue Thompson: James, James hold the ladder steadyJames, James I’m packed tonight I’m readyJames, James hold the ladder steadyI’m a’comin’ down to your ar-ar-ar-rmsI’m a’comin’ down to your arms.
When I was assigned to the patrol division, I preferred working swing shift which was from 4 pm to 2 am. People still had their Christmas lights up and turned on well into July.
Not in January. It’s too cold to mess with taking down the decorations. That’s what Easter /spring break is for.
Although, some are getting clever. They leave the programmable color changing led lights up all year – and they can choose what colors appear for each holiday/season.So red/pink/white for Valentines, green for St Patricks, multi colors for Easter, red/white/blue for 4th of July, purple/orange for Halloween, orange/red for Thanksgiving, and red/green/white for Christmas.
It’s so quiet, so peaceful putting up and taking down my Christmas lights. I have a company that does it for our house and several of the neighbors houses as well. On the appointed day they magically go up and after the holidays they magically go down, quietly, easily, and we don’t even have to store them. Makes for a peaceful, relaxing and quiet holiday season.

Wanda at least they are taking their lights down. Not leaving them up all the time.

Leave them up that way they don’t get tangled and you won’t have to risk personal injury. That’s why I do it. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Some of ours remain up all year, but are not turned on except for holidays! They are the white ones good for all occasions!

Chilly weekend morning??? I’ve got 11 degree F, 5-10 mph wind and snow to go remove. Not much chance to relax and enjoy anything.

Chilly? Grass in her backyard? A sandbox? Must be Florida.

Nice touch with the Cardinal: Cardinals are a symbol of faith and warmth with their bright red color in the dreary days of winter,

Exactly why this is one annual activity I don’t participate in. I live at the very end of a dead-end street, so what’s the point?
