Gracie: I'd like to return this. Librarian: I'm surprised you checked this out, Gracie. Gracie: Me too. Gracie: I thought it would help with my moth collection.
The Spanish version has the book titled “Ser Ama de Casa es lo Mejor”, which Bing Translate gives as “Being a Housewife is the Best”. The entire joke got lost. I’ve long suspected that the cartoonists write in English and that someone else translates into the Spanish version. Does anyone here know for sure?
Come to think of it, I’ve been incredibly dense. The Spanish language joke works here too… if we assume she thought that this would be an unused (actually moth-eaten) book. It’s just that the “mother/moth-er” pun was so overwhelmingly obvious that it didn’t occur to me that there might be another way to read it. Live and learn.

Oh, I get it. Moth-ers. Sounds like a lame pun.

“Ama de Casa????” I’ve watched plenty of telenovelas over the years and I never ever heard that before. Must be colloquial.

Is this a comment on the fact that Gracie lost her mother when she was younger, so she misread the word?

Our TV logs are always listing something called “How I Met Your Moth”.

She’s also holding the “moth” upside down…

What is with these scam ads? “I work from home and make $13,000 a month”? Comics.com has to pay the bills, but these ads are by criminals.
