teaching him to drive in an empty parking lot, on Sunday. I taught our 4 kids to drive on 2 tracks way out in the woods. I started driving when I was 12. Taught myself as my father forgot I was even in the car, he drove to a bar and went in. So I got the car started and drove the 5 miles home.
Many years ago my son was living with his mom, got a ticket and had to appear in court. Since this was his first time he asked me to go with him. When his case was called we walked forward to address the judge. The Bailiff asked, “Is he over 18?” We told him yes, the Bailiff then said, “The he is the only one who speaks to the Judge.” After explaining his case the Judge told him, “I am going to let you off with a fine this time, but if I see you again in my court you will be leaving by the back door that goes to jail, not by the front door that goes home. Do you understand me son?” I never had another issue with his driving.
Dale Earnhardt was wearing a helmet somewhat like Baldo’s during his last Daytona 500. Folks have surmised that a HANS device (Head And Neck Support) might not have saved his life because of the speed at which he hit the wall (150+ mph), but Baldo won’t be driving at those speeds in the family car. But Papi has a point. My car, my rules.

At least he already had the seatbelt on. And there are a few places where that and a Nomex suit would be a good idea.

We call him . . . the Stig.

Not good. The helmet restricts his side vision and makes him less safe as a driver!
